Mother’s Day Special Offering May 10
Since 1954, Presbyterian churches in South Carolina have marked Mother’s Day with an offering to support the ministry of Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina to older adults. Thankfully, even though we will not be together physically on May 12, the Presbyterian churches who founded this ministry continue to sustain it, so that residents who have outlived their life’s savings can continue to call PCSC “home.”
One way they do this is through the Mother’s Day Offering, which is used solely to provide charitable care for residents who can no longer pay for the full cost of their care. Along with the Offering, a special card featuring artwork by a resident is usually distributed in the churches. Please visit www.presbyteriancommunities.org and click the link for Mother’s Day Offering. There you can see the beautiful sunflower card painted by Mrs. Betty Youngs of The Clinton Presbyterian Community.
Because the cost of charitable care can run to $1.5 million or more, it is truly a blessing that generous Presbyterian churches and their members help to shelter and care for each and every one of these through the Mother’s Day Offering.
Please MAIL your special offering to the church, marking “Mother’s Day” in the memo section. Thank You!
General Fund and Annual Pledge Campaign
The Stewardship Campaign at Johns Island Presbyterian Church is held annually, typically in the Fall when we ask our members to pledge a fixed amount to the general activities of the church for the following calendar year. Each year approximately 80% of our annual needs are committed at the time of the Stewardship Campaign. Our annual budget of nearly $600,000 is supported by approximately 190 families, giving an average of $3,200 per year. Giving and donations can be made at any time during the year, although participation in the Stewardship Campaign and pledging to support the church helps us to establish our annual church budget. JIPC offers several options to donate to the church. We accept cash and checks and provide offering envelopes upon request. For those members who prefer direct deposit, we offer secured ACH and debit/credit card transactions. If you are interested in this option, you can click on the “My Online Donation” link below to make a one-time donation, or click “View Donor Portal” below the “Go” button to schedule reoccurring contributions. If you have questions please feel free to send an email to info@JIPC.org or call the church office at (843) 559-9380 for a prompt response.
Endowment Fund and Building Fund
Our Endowment Fund and corresponding Building Fund were established for the purposes of supporting our Historic 300 year old Sanctuary and facilities as an extension of the church’s benevolent programs into perpetuity.
The Endowment Fund is capable of handling individualized gift giving as well as Will and Trust distributions. With the IRS tax changes regarding IRA required distributions after age 70 ½, the Internal Revenue Service states that a check from an IRA may be made payable to a Church organization described in section 408(d)(8) and delivered by the IRA owner to the charitable organization. This new feature and any other questions may be directed to Charlie Larsen at email@example.com.
